My name is Doctor Ravi Patel, and I prescribe Tyrvaya to my dry eye patients.

Why are real tears and a stable tear film so important?]
Dr. Patel
Having a stable tear film is important because when it becomes unstable, it triggers a cycle of disruptive dry eye symptoms such as burning and stinging.

REAL TEARS KEEP EYES LUBRICATED
REAL TEARS INCREASE COMFORT
REAL TEARS MINIMIZE IRRITATION & INFLAMMATION]
Dr. Patel
Real tears help keep eyes lubricated, which helps increase comfort by minimizing irritation and inflammation.

What’s wrong with using artificial tears alone?]
Dr. Patel
The drops patients can purchase over-the-counter—we’ll call them artificial tears—simply don’t address the underlying driver of dry eye disease. This is because they don’t contain the same components that the body naturally produces.
Patients also have challenges with feeling only transient and temporary relief. They put the drops in, but my patients will tell me that within a minute or two, their eyes are feeling exactly as they used to feel. So despite using the drops multiple times during the day, they're just not getting the relief that they would like to get.
